Chapter RE, the affordable homes developer founded in September 2024 by Ryan Barnhill and Sam Miller, has exchanged contracts to purchase the former VASA Social Club on Rochdale Road in Blackley.

Chapter to develop 36 new affordable homes on Blackley site
This long-leasehold site has sat vacant for a number of years, but Chapter's purchase will now see a 100% affordable housing scheme brought forward. Chapter has worked in close co-operation with the site's freeholder, Manchester City Council, to agree a lease-regear allowing residential development on the site to progress.
The development designed by Ollier Smurthwaite will see a scheme comprising:
- 8 1-bedroom apartments
- 8 2-bedroom apartments
- 20 4-bedroom houses
Chapter are targeting a low carbon scheme employing Passivhaus principles.
Chapter is now actively seeking a Housing Association partner and contractor for the delivery of this exciting new development.
